Epilepsy affects approximately 3 percent of individuals by the time they are 80 years old. About 10 percent of the population will have at least one seizure in their lifetime. Globally, epilepsy is the third most common neurologic disorder after cerebrovascular and Alzheimer disease. Epilepsy is not a single entity.
