Oligotrophs: adapted to low nutrient concentrations. Copiotrophs: needing high nutrient concentrations, but possessing various adaptations to survive periods of low nutrients. Opportunitroph: equipped to take advantage of transient occurrences of high-nutrient niches within a bulk low nutrient environment.
