Gametophytic Signals involved in Double Fertilisation.

Pollen tube rupture, sperm cell release and synergid degeneration. During or shortly before fertilisation one of the two synergids degenerates. The PT penetrates this synergid and ruptures to release its contents. Each sperm is guided towards one of the two female gametes.
