How does the sine rule work, and when is the cosine rule used?When using the sine rule all the angles and sides are labelled A, B and C, and a,b, and c, in which every angle is opposite to its side – of a, b, and c. And it is used when one pair of an angle and side are known e.g. A and a, but only half of another is known e.g. B, to find the other half of b. While the cosine rule is used to find an angle when all three sides are known or when two sides and their included angle is known.

How can the line down the middle of an equilateral triangle be calculated using the sine rule?To prove the Sine rule first draw a line down the middle of a triangle and label it x and identify the sides that are not divided – b is cut down the middle, while a and c are hypotenuses’. This makes x the opposite of the hypotenuses’, so Sinx = o/h is used. Now substitute a and c into the equation to get SinA = x/c and SinC = x/a. Rearrange these equations to remove the fractions by multiplying by c or a to get cSinA = x and aSinC = x. Which becomes = cSinA = aSinC. And finally, divide the equation on the left by SinA and on the right by SinC so it becomes c/SinC = a/SinA and is now the sine equation.
What does the box plot show?The box plot shows the lowest and highest value with a small vertical line at the end and begging of the line, while the line that starts the box is the lower quartile, the line inside the box is the median and the line at the end of the box is the upper quartile.
What do you compare when comparing box plots?When comparing box plots compare the median, which shows the average and the upper and lower quartiles that show the range.
How do you calculate the lower bound?If you are given an equation with two letters, e.g. v = s/t, first calculate the error intervals with the given rounded numbers. Now LB of s/ UB of t, which gives the value of v, because a small number divided by a large number gives the smallest possible outcome.
