Questions and Answers List

level questions: Waves in Medical Imaging

QuestionAnswer
How can Waves be used for Medical Imaging? What Properties allow it to do so?-A Wave can either be Absorbed, Transmitted, Refracted or Reflected -The Outcome all depends on the Wave Type, and also the Material -Different Waves do Different things, so they are Each Better for Different Imaging
In Medical Situations, what happens with X-Ray? Where does it Excel and Fail in?-X-Rays simply get Mostly Transmitted by tissue [There is Little Absorption], but get Absorbed by Denser Materials [Bones and Metals] -This means Lots of X-Rays can make a High Resolution Image of Inside you, making them called CT Scans
In Medical Situations, What are Gamma Rays used for? Where do they Excel and Fail in?-Gamma Rays are Transmitted by Pretty much every part of the Body, so that means you can Detect it from Outside the Body -This can be done via Radio tracers, Radioactive Isotopes that can be Injected or Swollen, and can Emit Gamma Rays -This means, for examples, if you put the Tracer in a Molecule, Glucose, it can see how much Absorption of that Molecule is happening, giving you Answers
In Medical Situation, What are Infra Red used for? Where do they Excel and Fail in?-Infected or Injured Areas are usually Hotter than the other Areas, giving more Infra Red -This can be Detected, and therefore you can make an Image -So this really can just show the Temperature of Areas
What is Good and Wrong with using -Ultrasound -X-Rays -Gamma Rays -IR in Medical Imaging-Ultrasound, for now, is Completely Safe, but can give out a Fuzzy Image, in which can only be Soft Tissues, not Bones -X-Rays can Damage Cells but give us Information on the Bones, and other Details that Ultrasound can't -Gamma Rays are also Ionising, but help us seeing how the Body is Functioning -IR is also Very Safe, but just says the Temperature.
