QuestionAnswer
What charges do Atoms contain?Positive charges [Protons] and Negative Charges [Electron]
What is Neutral MatterThis is where the number of Positive Charge is the Same as the Number of Negative Charge [Protons = Electrons]
What happens when 2 materials rub together? What happens if 2 Insulators and Conductors rub together?-The Electrons will be Transferred from One to the Other -In the Conductor, The Electrons will just flow back into or out, making them Neutral -In the Insulators, The Electrons can not flow meaning a Positive Charge will be left on the Object that lost Electrons, and the Negative Charge will be applied on the Other Object, because it has Gained Electrons.
Can Protons move? or Just ElectronsOnly Electrons can move. Not Protons
What happens if enough Charge is present on a Object?-It can Move, which will cause Sparks and Shocks
What do Electrically Charged Objects Exert? They exert a Force with one another. This force gets Weaker over Distance however
What happens if 2 Objects had: a] Same Charge b] Opposite Charge-If two objects has the Same Charge, they would repel against Each other -If two objects has the Opposite Charge, they would Attract each other
What is Electrostatic Attraction and Electrostatic Repulsion? This is the Force that Attracts 2 Charged Objects OR The force that Repels 2 Charged Objects [This force is Non-Contact]
So what will happen if you put 2 same charges Rod next to each other? They will both repel each-other. Simple as that
Using a Charge Rod and some Scraps of Paper, what will happen? and Why?-The Small papers will try to Jump towards the Rod -This is because the Rod will push the Electrons away [Negative Charged] or pull the Electrons [Positively Charged] towards the Rod -Remember, Protons can not be moved, so if it was a Negative Charge, the Electrons would repel away [go to the Other side of the Paper]
Using a Stream of Water [Vertical], how can you test a Charged Object?-The Charged Object will affect the Stream of water by Bending it Towards or Away.
Using the Gold leaf Electroscopes, how can you test a Charged Objected-If a Negative Charged Object touches the Zinc Plate, the Electrons or Charge will be taken towards the Electroscope, into the Metal Stem and Gold leaf [Conducted into] -This makes the Stem and Gold Leaf rise, Same Charge Repels so the Gold leaf will rise -Use a Positive Charged Object, Electrons repel from the Zinc Plate, towards the Stem and Gold Leaf, Charging them with the Same Charge, the Leaf will rise
